RevoFi CEO Justin Caswell on Internet Democratization Via Internet and Crypto

RevoFi

Internet access is one of the primal human needs after food, water, and air. So much so that many people put the internet first before other needs. RevoFi’s products enable internet democratization and allow users to earn cryptocurrencies through their routers.

It’s all about freedom!

We reached out to Justin Caswell, CEO of RevoFi for more information.  Here is what he had to say.

Justin Caswell CEO at RevoFi

E-Crypto News:

What is the general concept behind RevoFi’s hotspots?

To build a global decentralized cloud services network that is owned by everyone. It’s about creating value for device owners that are actually business owners in a way.

The value is the connectivity, storage, compute, web services, NFT’s, Revos token, Lightning Network node, the entire NVIDIA NGC catalog, and more to begin with.

It’s the first time in the world and history that a blockchain and WiFi6 mesh are begin ran natively and entirely on NVIDIA compute.

E-Crypto News:

What is the technology functioning under the hood for RevoFi?

The Revos blockchain is front and center, followed immediately by WiFi6 mesh for connectivity. It’s the NVIDIA Jetson Nano platform that is the central compute technology.

For WiFi6 mesh we went with MediaTek chipset with an ARM processor onboard to completely offload all compute from the host Nano platform.

We added a ultra-long range WiFi5 feature for backhaul or for broader ranger coverage. You also get a six port ethernet switch. All of this is standard equipment for all devices.

The Micro comes with software defined radio (SDR) in the form of a HackRF One embedded in the device for vast functionality.

The Pro comes with cellular and satellite expansion capabilities for global connectivity backhaul or internet. The best part is the devices will improve over time and you won’t need to keep buying new devices.

E-Crypto News:

What are the geographical areas RevoFi covers?

We sell globally.

Devices are deploying globally.

The first 300 devices will be all over the world. Followed shortly by another 1,300 devices in wave two. Projections are over 100,000 devices deployed by the end of 2022.

E-Crypto News:

Please, can you tell us more about the RevoFi Router and its benefits to users?

There are three different devices.

Each device has core functionality and standard equipment as described above.

The RevoFi Network provides the infrastructure to deploy cloud services networks anywhere in the world.

New RevoFi Networks create commodities of Wi-Fi 6 Mesh, storage, and compute that become a utility.

The Revos Blockchain enables the economy of the network through a native token and token

reward system.

E-Crypto News:

How can users become independent service providers?

Every device, token, and data credit represent ownership of the RevoFi Network.

It’s the first time in history anyone can own a part of the network and cloud infrastructure.

This inverts the model for revenue of today’s world where the entire infrastructure is owned by everyone, so we all profit together.

E-Crypto News:

What is home mining?

Beats me… I’ve never heard of this term.

I’ll take a guess…

There’s a lot of options out there when it comes to mining crytpo.

For most getting into mining these days and being profitable means a commercial and industrial scale undertaking. For those who don’t have millions in their wallet there are ways to mine at home on a smaller scale and pool your resources with others to increase earning potential.

This way the barrier to entry (cost) is much lower and the technical requirements are also less.

E-Crypto News:

Please, can you tell us more about REV$ $RVS tokens?

The Revos Blockchain is a new blockchain to incentivize the building of decentralized infrastructure and rewarding for the utilization of the infrastructure’s commodities and utility.

E-Crypto News:

What is the technology behind REV$ tokens?

The consensus mechanism of any blockchain is one of the most critical aspects to consider for any deployment. This aspect impacts throughput, scalability, and ultimately user adoption.

To begin with, during phase one (1) of the deployment, the Revos Blockchain will use the Cellular Automata (CA) consensus mechanism.

This mechanism has been proven at global scale and has high distributed throughput.

Phase two (2) of the deployment, the Revos Blockchain will be transitioned to Swarm Synchronization Protocol as the consensus mechanism.

E-Crypto News:

How can users mine REV$ $RVS tokens?

The RevoFi Network is a revolutionary decentralized wireless cloud services network that provides a unified infrastructure for Wi-Fi 6 Mesh, storage, compute, and cloud services.

This enables cost effective and rapid deployment capabilities by moving these resources to the edge and far edge.

The RevoFi Network simplifies, combines, unifies, and improves wireless connectivity while simultaneously adding storage and compute for cloud services such applications, dApps, web services, Wi-Fi offload, ad-hoc networks with cellular or satellite backhaul, and other use cases.

E-Crypto News:

What are your plans for users to mine Bitcoin through their RevoFi Routers?

First…to be clear…you won’t mine Bitcoin with RevoFi devices. These are not ASIC devices.

You will be able to EARN Bitcoin.

We are going to be implementing the LDK (Lightning Development Kit) from Jack Dorsey’s Spiral into the devices and the Revos mobile application.

The devices will be a node on the BTC Lightning Network and will net BTC revenue.

The integration into the Revos mobile app is to see your BTC earnings from your Lightning node, buy Revos directly in app using BTC, and buy BTC using Revos.

I think this is the start for the Bitcoin integration and it will only become more robust and mature over time.

E-Crypto News:

What was the inspiration behind the RevFi concept?

It was actually the issue of constantly connecting and disconnecting from all sorts of WiFi networks and also WiFi for device control.

The frustration with poor user experiences, tons of logins, saved networks that would auto connect without my permission, and the general lack of privacy on all of these networks.

It was about fixing not just WiFi experinces, but also the privacy issues that are rampant globally on these types of networks.

Even in our own homes, the WiFi isn’t private, generally has poor performance, and oh…never make you a single cent.

E-Crypto News:

How will decentralized internet hotspots work?

Please see sections 4.1 and 4.2 of the whitepaper.

E-Crypto News:

How profitable is internet mining using routers?

I can’t answer this. This is way too broad of a question.

I would say in general its better than routers that don’t mine at all.

E-Crypto News:

What is the upside for RevoFi users?

This is really a personal experience and journey.

So the upside is going to be just as varied as there are users.

Generally, the goal is to improve the lives of each person, enrich their earnings potential with a multitude of value streams, to create a true decentralized private network, and to be the first ones on future internet architecture.

E-Crypto News:

Are there any legal or compliance issues users need to cover before becoming internet service providers?

I don’t think one can say that device owners are an ISP (Internet Service Provider). At least not in the way we think about and define this term today.

To be clear the devices do not have modem functionality yet.

This is a roadmap feature add. So you can’t replace your modem yet.

Which is needed to connect to any ISP serving up Internet connectivity.

That all said… I think where we are headed is the ability to become more of a decentralized ISP that doesn’t operate like a historic ISP.

The compliance and regulatory environment are a global stage, so it is really up to each device owner to ensure compliance with their local laws.

In general, the devices use open standards, open source software, some open source hardware, commodity hardware, unlicensed frequencies, and thus can be deployed globally.

E-Crypto News:

What are your legal arrangements with the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and other such entities at a national level?

We don’t have any legal arrangements with the FCC.

We don’t have or use any licensed frequencies.

The requirements are standardized and simplified for what we are doing. The devices have certifications for FCC and CE.

E-Crypto News:

What are your plans for expansion beyond your current markets?

RevoFi has been working on multiple strategic partnerships that are going to create SPV’s for scaling beyond our current operations.

While we currently sell globally, the way is clear on getting these partnerships in place to successfully scale and reach market demands.

Which is substantial based on initial market engagements.

E-Crypto News:

How did you get into web3 technologies?

I’ve been in telecommunications for over 20 years and regardless if what I’ve been involved in over the years it always comes back to telecommunications.

This has been almost exclusively in wireless and covers both terrestrial and satellite.

Being a full stack developer and also being heavily involved in the blockchain / crytpo / Bitcoin space for years and getting invited to the Aspen Institute back in 2017 was really the spark.

This was all the way back to 2000 before almost everything we know and are accustomed to today.

E-Crypto News:

Where do you think RevFi will be in the next decade?

Everywhere. Literally. Seriously… We want and need to get these devices and the technology in as many hands as possible.

It’s the way to financial freedom by owning a part of not just a new network…but a new internet.

If crypto and blockchain companies and technologies want to NOT be hypocrites then they need to stop building on centralized legacy infrastructure.

RevoFi is the way for crytpo and blockchain technologies to truly be decentralized.

I can see RevoFi being the company driving innovation on decentralized devices and infrastructure for gaming, NFTs, DeFi, Dapps, and so much more.
