- Vavel Games to explore the use of in-game NFTs for existing and future massively multiplayer online games (MMOs)
- The multi-million-dollar title ‘Imperium: Galactic War’ is getting set to become one of the first fully-fledged MMOs to utilize NFTs
- Vavel Games becomes the first MMO & Metaverse partner to utilize Vorto Network technology
THURSDAY 29 JULY, 2021: Vorto Gaming and Vavel Games have announced a strategic partnership to utilize the Vorto Network in order to create blockchain-enabled MMO games.
Vavel Games, a game developer and publisher of MMO games, has plans to use their inhouse technology to build and develop a self-scaling metaverse across multiple future titles.
The partnership will also allow Vavel Games to add non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to their existing and upcoming titles, as well as a marketplace for the purchasing, trading and selling of in-game assets using Vorto Networks technology.
The first title to utilize the technology is the free-to-play massively multiplayer real-time strategy (MMORTS) game Imperium: Galactic War (IGW). IGW is expected to see substantial growth over the coming months after a significant update that will see the title become available on mobile devices and additional storefronts.
Commenting on the partnership, Kris Vaivods, CEO of Vorto Gaming said: “We are super excited to see what the partnership with Vavel can produce. They have an amazing technology platform that runs Imperium and we are proud to provide additional features to enhance user experience through Vorto Gaming, by providing the players the ability to play to earn.”
The market for NFTs has grown exponentially in 2021, particularly in open-world games where virtual plots of land have been sold for amounts that sometimes eclipse real life land values. Earlier this year, a virtual plot of land sold for in excess of $900,000 USD.
“MMO games are like the crown jewel of gaming, they stand out as many players continue to play for a very long time, sometimes decades – we are confident that many players will appreciate the opportunity to also make some money on time spent in their favorite games once they have the opportunity”. Vaivods added.
“We are very excited to add a new and exciting layer to Imperium Galactic War with Vorto Network and believe the play-to-earn mechanisms will play an important role in the players’ engagement within out metaverse. Additionally, we are excited to announce that all tradeable items from the Founder Sale will be provided to our Founders free of charge in the form of Non-Fungible Tokens. We can’t wait for the deep dive into the NFT space” said Vavel Games Founder and Chief Creative Officer Mikołaj Marcisz.
Vavel Games is the first MMO publisher to sign up to the Vorto network, and with the release of IGW, it will join a growing roster of games that includes a reimagined version of the 2018 Gamescom Best Innovation Award winning real-time strategy game, Hash Rush.
