Cleverfiles Co-Founder Roman Kropachek Talks to Us About the NFT Movement

We were quite surprised to discover some unique art niches that had joined the NFT space.

Corrupted files are one of those art niches that seem to be “out there” but are quite popular within the NFT space.

Roman Kropacheck, an IT entrepreneur and the co-founder of Clever Files created a listing of this art form on the popular OpenSea NFT marketplace platform.

So, out of sheer curiosity, we reached out to Roman to ask about these art forms and a few other things. Here is what he had to say.

Congratulations on your first NFT Listing! How does it feel to be a part of a global movement?

Thank you, it feels great. I love being at the forefront of new and exciting events, being creative and trying something new.

E-Crypto News:

Please, can you tell us more about your NFT listings?

This time I’m actually running two campaigns at the same time: auctioning the first ever NFT house on the Moon, and selling a series of artwork, which in fact are uniquely corrupted images. The latter were generated accidentally by Disk Drill, one of the widely popular data recovery goliaths of the Internet.

The house on the Moon is a grand project by itself, it consists of dozens of images, 3D maps, exterior and interior layouts of a house that can be deployed on the Moon. The space has always been a fascinating area for me, and I’ve decided to create something very unique and one of a kind.

The team and I have already spent over 1,500 hours on this project, working on developing the concept, playing with options of the construction materials, etc. The house is a two-block building divided into designated areas for living, work, kitchen, lab, gym, technical premises, and many more.

So basically it’s a very detailed layout of how an actual house on the Moon may look like. All of the designs have been created from scratch and are unique.

Can you tell us more about your art form?

The other NFT listing is also a very unconventional piece of art, as in fact it can be considered a technical glitch.

From time to time both Disk Drill’s internal and macOS algorithms may come up with something random, unique and beautiful at the same time. File fragmentation, unpredictable internal code labyrinths, combined with version compatibility mismatch, tricks Deep Scan algorithms and macOS Quick Look into creating distinct art effects when generating partially recovered files.

This resulted in 6 corrupted images that can be both an accident and art at the same time. All of the images are also unique pieces, as they can not be reproduced for the second time.

E-Crypto News:

Are distorted photos just a fad or a niche art form?

Now that NFT-art is an extremely popular trend, I don’t think it will ever go away for good. Will the hype fade away? At some point it definitely will, as it happened with Bitcoin news, all things crypto, etc.

The NFTs were created with the main goal to ensure that artists could make some money and have full control over their work, and I believe that it will continue to live up to its mission.

We will see various artists testing out their creativity and coming up with new trends all the time, some of them will be more successful than others, but at the end of the day, everyone will find the most appealing form of art for themselves.

E-Crypto News:

What are your thoughts on cryptocurrency regulation?

A reasonable amount of regulation has never hurt anyone. If it’s not intrusive, if it doesn’t weaken the technology itself, let it exist to keep the bad players out as much as possible. The keyword here is “reasonable”.

The crypto itself is the first ever fully independent playground. The regulators are welcome to play by the open rules.

Though, I don’t think they can stop the progress. Eventually, the global money exchange will be self-regulated, digital, and hopefully more energy-efficient.

E-Crypto News:

Please, can you tell us about the most expensive NFT you consider to be “it”?

I personally liked Crossroad by Beeple.

E-Crypto News:

Do you think the NFT space is in a bubble? Please, can you tell us the reasons for your answer?

As mentioned earlier, I think NFTs are here to stay. In the upcoming months we will definitely see a boom in new concepts, ideas, new art forms people will be looking to sell and buy.

I think we’re still looking into some hard to believe amounts of money people will be willing to pay for such art pieces, in this way we’ll all be pushing the boundaries to see how far we can go with this.

My guess is, in a year or less the wave of experiments will fade away a little, but artists will definitely have a new platform to showcase their creativity and earn money.

As we’ve already seen, not all the pieces of art are meant to just earn money, a lot of them are here to help raise awareness around important issues, like ecology, sustainability, mental health and much more.

E-Crypto News:

Where do you see the NFT space in the next decade?

I would really want to see it do more for copyright protection of art and artists.

E-Crypto News:

What other cryptocurrency and DLT/blockchain projects are you involved in at the moment?

Investing some time, resources and personal research into finding ways to minimize the amount of fraud (ICOs?) in the crypto space, as well as using crypto to solve real-life everyday problems and satisfy everyone’s needs.

E-Crypto News:

Will Clever files ever be put on any blockchain/DLT as a decentralized application?

It’s not possible… unfortunately. CleverFiles technology can only work as close to the hardware level as possible.

E-Crypto News:

What are your thoughts on central bank digital currencies?

I’m not sure they will find enough miners to stay as solid and secure as Bitcoin.

E-Crypto News:

What other technology projects are you involved in?

Those are plentiful. I’m working with a bunch of teams on improving local networks, especially WiFi. I’m invested in improving data layering and low-level transfers as part of several projects in network infrastructure, as well as video compression and decoding, data storage, backups and synchronization; web-development, too.

E-Crypto News:

Do you think cryptocurrencies and their underlying technologies will take over the world? Please, can you give us a scenario of how this will occur?

Cryptocurrencies have the potential to enable social and economic growth throughout the world, including in developing countries, by offering easier access to capital and financial services.

Naturally, over the past few years, crypto was criticised heavily due to rising cases of money laundering, illegal trade and fraudulent activities. Though it’s important to keep in mind, that we should look not into banning the technology, but rather embracing it and allowing it to develop organically within a legal framework.

Recently, we have noticed credible and significant institutions like Tesla, MasterCard, Microsoft, Paypal, Twitch and others adopting cryptocurrencies into their ecosystems. Besides, companies such as Google Pay and Samsung Pay are now contemplating making inroads into cryptocurrency via Bitpay.

It will only be a matter of time until these cryptocurrencies definitively find a way into our lives. Millions of people will have an opportunity to invest, send and save money, and start a business due to the possibilities that cryptocurrencies bring to the table.

E-Crypto News:

Are we to keep expecting strange pieces from you, or is this a one-time thing?

This is definitely just a beginning. I want to see how this first campaign develops and what else I can make out of it. Don’t think I’ll create the second house on the Moon, probably will go into even more creative mode. Stay tuned.

E-Crypto News:

What advice do you have for anyone who intends to enter the Non-Fungible Token (NFT) space?

My advice is pretty simple –– don’t be afraid to experiment, and if something doesn’t work the first time around, do not give up and try again. And then again, and again until it works. You will either succeed, or learn very valuable lessons out of it.

E-Crypto News:

If you had three wishes and a Genie that could make them come true, what would they be for the NFT space?

Make it more accessible to everyone. More crypto knowledge at schools. And, we need cheaper electricity 🙂
