Pharrell Williams creative brand ‘I Am Other’ has partnered with Pentatonic to create a revolutionary compact dining toolkit from OTHERWARE called The Pebble.
The Pebble has been designed around the “bring your own” concept, it’s a sustainable design as the whole product is made out of recycled CD’s. The pebble weighs the same as a smartphone and comes in a “mash’ of pastel colors making it hard to lose. Each Pebble comes with a custom clip to hang your Pebble from a belt loop or strap.
What does it contain?
Inside the Pebble you will find a knife, a fork, a spoon a straw and a set of chopsticks ensuring you are equipped for any restaurant cuisine.
This product has been designed to encourage people away from reverting back to bad habits and using single use plastic cutlery, which has surged during the pandemic, as people do not want to be sharing cutlery outside the house and have indeed been advised by governments not to do so.
Pentatonic estimates that 10 billion CD’s and DVDs have been disposed of in the USA alone since people have switched to streaming services, so everyone involved felt it was an excellent source of sustainable product. The use of CDs also points to Pharrell Williams’ music career. Other materials used in the Pebble include recycled food packaging and the utensil heads are made from stainless steel.
The studio has said the Pebble was originally being looked at for festival goers but since the pandemic it has only made the Pebble more relevant. As part of the principles behind a circular economy, Pentatonic has offered to buy every set to repurpose it.
The Pebble is retailing at $59 and can be purchased on the OTHERWARE website.
