FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ATLANTA – Dec 9, 2021 – Entertainment Marketing Executive, Entrepreneur and NYT best-selling author, Nea Simone announces the launch of Melanated NFT Gallery, the first black, woman-owned and operated blockchain technology services company in the NFT and Metaverse space focused on empowering creators from the Global African and Afro+Latinx Diaspora. MNFTG is committed to leveraging the power of technology through the smart contract to give creators from the global African and Afro-Latinx diaspora, creators who have historically been exploited, an equitable platform to share and monetize their creative work. Unlike other NFT service providers, MNFTG does not charge transaction fees or collect royalty payouts each time a piece is sold, instead creators are charged a one-time, upfront service fee on top of the reserve or sale price.
The Melanated NFT Gallery features ‘Melanated Originals’ with artwork from emerging and established Melanated artists. MNFTG will officially reveal its first Icon & Celebrity NFT collection beginning December 2021 with a variety of notable NFT drops which include:
  • Miles Davis – Synesthesia: Jazz icon Miles Davis saw colors when he heard music, Synesthesia is a three-part series encompassing a visual and audio representation utilizing a 1970s photograph of Miles Davis on the roof of the Chateau Marmont. The photo was taken by Miles’ cousin and closest friend, artist Corky McCoy, who created iconic album covers for Davis. Using a mixed media interpretation, McCoy created the collection alongside daughter Blair McCoy of Authentik Creative, Inc.
  • DMX & DJ Superior – Darkman X-No Words: Musical Artist and DMX Producer DJ Superior will release an NFT collection of five unreleased songs, vintage footage and art created by DMX in honor of the late rapper’s birthday this December. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to his family.
  • Prince & The Revolution Guitarist Dez Dickerson – My Time With Prince: A compilation of audio, video, and unlock-able content highlighting the early days behind the velvet rope with Prince & the Revolution in a documentary format.
  • Keith Dorsey’s CollabCrib! – The Collab Times: Esteemed talent manager, entrepreneur and founder of YoungGuns Entertainment and CollabCrib! (one of the first all Black content houses in Atlanta), Keith Dorsey will launch The Collab Times, a limited edition of trading cards and avatars, at a live CollabCrib! Christmas event this year.
Future NFTs are expected from signed MNFTG clients including: Influencer Mr. Organik, acclaimed Photographer Roger Erickson, Sculptor Duron Jackson and professional Multi-Media Artist Aja.a.x., whose work examines intersectionality and hidden narratives within marginalized communities.
By delivering compelling NFTs via their exclusive agreements with melanated icons and celebrities across film, art, pop culture, music, literature and sports, MNFTG will meet the demands of global collectors seeking to procure digital assets from important moments in time. Once created, these limited edition NFTs will be available for purchase at the Melanated NFT Gallery store on Open Sea, Rarible, Mintable and Known Origin.
“Our mission is to provide a vehicle for melanated creators to maintain creative and financial control of their work and to insure they continue to recognize fully the financial compensation and benefits of their work, in perpetuity, through the Smart Contract.,” Simone, CEO, and founder stated. ” Our vision is to be the genesis and destination for melanated NFTs, from African and Afro-Latinx creators to the global collector, ultimately addressing and dismantling Generational Financial Trauma (GFT) that has permeated the creative space for far too long.”
The new agency has attracted a diverse team of creative talent, from graphic designers and artists to technology developers, with a complete production studio to assist in minting the items into quality, unique digital art. This includes Technologist, Token Creator, Blockchain Developer and Stanford Alumni Anthony Kalomas who has joined the firm as Chief Technology Officer.
“We at Melanated NFT Gallery believe it is vital to preserve cultural history and by minting NFTs from estates of icons and legends we are able to protect legacy. These NFT collections will increase in value and stand the test of time, with their stories embedded into the smart contract,” said Kalomas. “As multi-talented creators who understand the power of blockchain technology, we hope to use our knowledge to empower melanated content creators.”
