Saswata Basu of Züs Explores The Impact of AI Security Issues and More

Artificial Intelligence models have given rise to so many opportunities that are out there. This in turn, has generated much of the ongoing hype.

As with all things tech, there’s no smoke without fire.

Security issues are at the heart of everything. AI models have the same issues other forms of technology do.

Saswata Basu, Founder at Züs,a next-gen decentralized storage upstart has some unique ideas about these issues and more.

Here’s what he had to say.

E-Crypto News:

How has AIs rapid development outpaced businesses’ ability to manage risks?

Since the evolution of GPT giving the ability for applications to create conversational responses to text, images, music, video, and more, the adoption of AI has been exponential and the security and privacy aspects weren’t considered as much. But with AI proliferation, we must consider the risks associated with AI.

E-Crypto News:

How can organizations detect and respond to data security threats?

The best way organizations can protect against data security threats is to protect the data. There are two ways to accomplish this. The first method is to encrypt the data and then share this encrypted data to the AI model with a proxy re-encryption key. The second approach is to keep the data unencrypted but make it immutable so that malicious entities cannot change or delete the data.  Decentralized storage platforms such as that from Züs provide this feature.

E-Crypto News:

How can organizations mitigate the risks of data security bias?

To mitigate data security bias, organizations can also have a duplicate data set in a secured facility which can be used for the AI models to provide a response in case of a disaster for the primary data source. This disaster recovery can be efficiently done by storing the data on a decentralized storage with validation from each provider that the data uploaded on the provider is the data that is served by it so that the AI is not compromised by a corrupted data set.

E-Crypto News:

What are the implications of manipulated data sets?

A manipulated data set changes the way the AI will respond to a query for anything related to the data. The input data drives the response and if the data is changed, then the response would change. So if someone wants to provide misinformation to an audience, they just need to change the input data with the misinformation.

E-Crypto News:

How can organizations implement the best AI data security measures?

Organizations can use distributed storage where only a portion of the data resides on a single server and so even if the server is hacked the entire data is not compromised. There is always encryption for added layer protection, and immutability to protect the data from being manipulated or deleted.

E-Crypto News:

How can organizations prioritize AI security measures?

It may be an expensive and a time consuming process to put together a hybrid cloud data solution incorporating  disaster recovery, security and privacy. However, the AI security measure can be implemented easily with Blimp, one of the Züs infrastructure application platforms, with a few clicks.

E-Crypto News:

Please, can you tell us about Züs?

Züs is a true multi-cloud with no vendor lock-In. You can choose the best providers and switch anytime. Züs is decentralized, open source, and high-performance with high-security features such as immutability, encryption, and proxy re-encryption. Züs is ideal for backups, AI, data lakes, and databases

A note – although not publicized as much,  Züs is a high speed blockchain that rivals the fastest protocols, and has the highest speed among its peers.

E-Crypto News:

How does Züs provide immutability that enables data encryption?

Züs has an immutability feature in its storage protocol which allows a user to set the allocation to be immutable with no file operations allowed except for downloads, or just allow two operations, uploads and download of a file. Users can also encrypt their data for an extra layer of security.

E-Crypto News:

Please can you tell us about Züs’ decentralized storage solutions?

Züs decentralized solution consists of a fast blockchain coupled lightly to a fast storage protocol. Client files are split into fragments and stored on multiple servers – this splitting and doing things in parallel enables performance gain and the distribution of data across servers provides security and availability.  It has a built-in 2 phase commit to ensure data integrity in case of client, server or network failures. In addition, it has an in-house proxy re-encryption protocol to enable fast and easy sharing of private files.

E-Crypto News:

How does Züs maintain its uptime service level availability?

By having enough parity shards of data, Züs maintains its uptime service and availability. Since clients can add redundancy on the fly, the availability is not fixed initially and can be modified at any time.

E-Crypto News:

How can businesses adopt blockchain technology?

The businesses can adopt Züs technology pretty easily using Blimp as an S3 server  with no code changes. The S3 server protocol simply uses standard S3 commands to download the files.

E-Crypto News:

What are the benefits of blockchain technology across industries?

Blockchain provides trustless solutions with complete transparency and immutability. It enables validations to catch storage providers that do not store your data or lack performance. For decentralized storage, it stores the allocation root on the chain, which is then used for challenges, randomly generated by the blockchain, to make sure the provider is able to pass them successfully. It also provides validation for a file downloaded by an user to make sure that the content is the same as the one uploaded by the content owner.

E-Crypto News:

What is the impact of government regulations on the adoption of blockchain projects?

There is a trend in the industry toward reducing risks associated with privacy (GDPR), data localization, and AI. There needs to be a simple workflow with a few clicks that can make this problem go away.

E-Crypto News:

How can organizations contribute to the development of AI data security standards?

Developers can fork the code and replicate the problem scenario.
