Horizen Announces Testnet Deployment of SideChain Platform Zendoo

This marks the final stage before mainnet launch later this year

October 15, 2021— Horizen, a technology platform allowing businesses and developers to create their own public or private blockchains, has officially deployed the final testnet of its sidechain and scaling technology Zendoo. In addition to the testnet release, Horizen has partnered with HackerOne for a bug bounty program. This program aims to encourage the broader hacker community to make Zendoo more secure. The rewards range from $300 for low risk bugs to as high as $10,000 for critical level vulnerabilities. .

Leveraging zero-knowledge SNARK (zk-SNARKs) technology, Zendoo is the first completely decentralized and fully customizable sidechain protocol on the market. Differing from other sidechain solutions, Zendoo is designed to be completely decentralized as it doesn’t rely on any central authority or third party validators. It also aims to solve the largest challenges most blockchains face: scalability, flexibility, privacy, and auditability.

The Zendoo system architecture employs a modular protocol that stresses functionality over design. This framework allows any type of rules to be deployed as a sidechain – whether it’s a blockchain or other type of computing system. This modularization permits massive scalability, application design freedom, and flexibility.

Zendoo is also fully equipped to enable verifiable communication between sidechains and the Horizen mainchain without 3rd party validators through the use of zk-SNARKs technology. This approach allows users to create auditable and data privacy-preserving applications to address real-world use cases.

“Horizen has come a long way since day one. Our mission has always been to foster an ecosystem that enables the creation of independent blockchain and dapps for real-world use cases,” said Rob Viglione, co-founder of Horizen. “In accomplishing that goal, we’re also able to provide massive throughput and customization for our users without compromising decentralization. We look forward to seeing what the community builds using our technology. The release of Zendoo’s final testnet stage brings us one step closer to our mainnet launch.”
